About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our Wallet team with deep expertise in payments or card technologies. In this role, you will be at the heart of our next-generation payment platform – designing and building secure, scalable, and innovative financial services used by millions of people across Europe.

You will work closely with product, compliance, and engineering teams to deliver wallet functionality, transaction processing, card payments, and integrations with partner banks and payment schemes.

Your responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Implement wallet functionality, transaction processing, and integrations with external payment platforms and APIs (e.g., SEPA, banking partners, card processors)
• Build and optimize systems capable of processing large transaction volumes with speed and reliability
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders to deliver secure and compliant solutions
• Mentor junior developers, champion coding best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Tackle complex challenges in payment processing, security, and scalability

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of Java development experience, with strong skills in the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Data)
• Solid background in building scalable, high-availability systems, preferably in payments or fintech
• Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and relational database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Proficiency in front-end technologies like Vue.js, React or Angular
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Proactive mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to work independently
• Strong plus: knowledge of SEPA/SWIFT payment systems, fintech compliance (PSD2, AML/KYC), or card processing (issuing, acquiring, Visa, Mastercard integrations)
